On May 11, 2025, the Kabuga Youth Center in Rango, Huye District, hosted a touching community event dedicated to children from low-income families who regularly attend the center’s recreational programs.
Organized by the center’s leadership, the gathering was held in the spirit of Easter, with a focus on sharing, togetherness, and strengthening community ties. Children exchanged gifts and shared a communal meal, fostering a spirit of unity and brotherhood.
Father Thierry Bashemezimana emphasized the importance of such events in building bonds akin to sibling relationships among the children. He noted that experiences like these teach them the value of sharing and help them understand they are part of a broader community.
Beyond the festive meal, participants received soaps and pens—practical items intended to promote personal hygiene and support their educational journey. Father Thierry pointed out that many of the children come from underprivileged backgrounds where access to basic hygiene products is limited, which can impact their health and personal development.
The event not only brought smiles and comfort but also offered a valuable lesson in compassion, community responsibility, and hope for a better future.
